Cast Iron Non Return Valve
Cast iron non return valves are a type of valves used to prevent back flow and reverse flow of liquids, gases, and other substances in a pipeline and plumbing systems. The pipe wall and valve body are made from cast iron, typically grey iron and ductile iron with a strong natural corrosion resistance. They are commonly used in waterworks, sewage systems, oil refineries, power plants, chemical production facilities, and other applications where they help to maintain the pipeline flow direction and keep the systems safe.

Design of the Cast Iron Non Return Valve
The valve consists of a piston-like design made from cast iron and designed to retain pressure and regulate the flow. The piston is fitted with a rubber seal which provides a tight, water-tight seal when in the closed position. The valve body is also made from cast iron and provides a strong and durable base for the valve. When the valve is opened, pressure forces the valve open, allowing fluid flow through the piston. when closed, the pressure forces the piston against the valve body, creating a water-tight seal.
Operation of the Cast Iron Non Return Valve
The non return valve is operated in one of two ways. It can be manually operated by turning the valve stem with a manual wrench or an electric actuator can be used for automatic operation. With manual operation, the stem is simply turned until resistance is felt. This indicates the valve is in its closed position and will prevent back flow. With electric operation, the valve is connected to an actuator which is controlled by an electrical signal to open or close the valve.
